About Us

I began in 2013 with my first working dog, Abira vom Nebeltal, in the sport of Schutzhund.  She was, and still is, my best partner.  She spends her retired days at my feet these days as I crank out leash orders but is still up for crazy ball play, laps in the pool or any adventure we go on as a family.  She is always with me.

As a newbie in the sport, I always had someone on my backline to hold my dog.  It was great!  But now, with my successive dogs in the sport, it’s all me!  The lines I was using would tighten on my hands when my dogs would pull or lunge and I would end up with limited circulation and sore hands.

At one of the championships Abira and I were in years ago, we received a really nice line in our competitor’s bag.  I loved it!  It was the only leash that was extremely easy on my hands, kept grip (but not too much) when wet and would still slide, if needed.  Now that it was time for me to step up to the plate and hold my own dogs, I wanted that same, strong leash that didn't hurt my hands and maintained grip at the same time.  After researching, I found the same material and made one for myself out of a lovely, bright neon yellow color so it could be easily located. My dog club members saw that bright color and, preferring the softness and strength of the lines, wanted some too so, to differentiate them, I began personalizing each leash. One leash for myself became hundreds for others and Leashes by Lori was born.  I'm so excited to share them with all of you!
